- Large non-stick frying pan
- Spatula
- Small mixing bowl (for sauce)
- Chopping board & knife
- Measuring spoons
- Lid (for melting cheese)
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons pickles finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons American mustard
- 1/2 brown onion very finely diced or grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 8 tortillas mini
- 500 g beef mince
- Salt & pepper
- 6 slices cheese
- 1 cup pickles drained
- iceberg or cos lettuce, Shredded
Instructions
- To make the sauce: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl or jug.
- To each tortilla, add about 1/4 cup of beef mince and flatten out to completely cover the surface to the edges. Add more meat if you prefer a thicker patty. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper on top.
- Preheat a large frying pan on high heat. Add 2-3 tacos, mince facing down. Cook for approx. 3-4 minutes, until the mince has browned and cooked through.
- Flip over, lower the heat right down (so the tortillas don’t burn), add the burger cheese on top of the patties, place a lid on top so that the cheese melts. Let them cook for approx. 2-3 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Remove from the heat.
- Top the taco with shredded lettuce, pickles and drizzle over the big mac sauce.

- Use baking paper between prepped tacos if stacking before cooking.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with a side of sweet potato fries or a tangy slaw.
- Add sliced tomato or jalapeños for a twist.
- Offer extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Storage & Reheating
- Fridge: Store leftover components separately in airtight containers.
- Reheat: Reheat the assembled tacos in a pan over low heat or in an oven at 160°C until warmed through and crispy again.
Substitutions
- Beef mince: Swap for turkey, chicken, or plant-based mince.
- Cheese: Use your favourite melty cheese—cheddar, tasty, or even mozzarella.
- Mini tortillas: Use larger ones and fold in half after cooking, or try lettuce wraps for a lighter option.
FAQs
1. Can I make these ahead of time? It’s best to cook them fresh so the tortillas stay crisp, but you can prep the sauce and mince tortillas in advance. 2. Can I freeze them?
These are best fresh, but the cooked mince can be frozen. Reheat and assemble just before serving. 3. What kind of pickles work best?
Classic burger pickles or gherkins are ideal—just make sure they’re drained and chopped. 4. Are these kid-friendly?
Absolutely! Skip the mustard if your kids prefer milder flavours. 5. Can I use a different sauce?
Yes! Try sriracha mayo, chipotle sauce, or BBQ for a different flavour profile.
