Our Story
Where do I even begin talking about my love of food?
I’m a 37-year-old nutritionist living in Mount Martha, Victoria with my wonderful husband, Tom, and our three beautiful girls, Lily, Penny and Elia.
Cooking has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I used to set up a fake camera on a tripod, line my three younger sisters up in front of the kitchen bench on stools as if they were my audience members, then away I would go acting out a cooking show and teaching them different cooking skills for the kitchen.
Throughout my high school years, I worked as a cook in different cafes and restaurants as a part time job and my favourite subjects were food technology and health and human development. Once I left high school, I studied food and nutrition at university, while also working at The Essential Ingredient in the Prahran Market.
From then...
When I was 27, I officially started a catering company, Two Pounds. I started this in my tiny kitchen in Prahran, where we would make nutritious home-cooked meals and then deliver them around Melbourne. Two Pounds grew significantly over the next 8 years and towards the end I was catering very large, high end private events, such as weddings all around Victoria.
When COVID hit, Two Pounds was unable to trade for almost 2 years. After realising that I had no control over the situation and when I would be able to start building the business again, I decided I needed something positive to focus on, something new that would ignite my passion and get me going again. This is where Wholesome By Sarah was born.
...to now
What happened over the following 18 months was very unexpected. My community grew rapidly and within a year, I had grown over 200k followers.
My wonderful community has continued to grow and the opportunities that have arisen from this has become a dream come true for me.
I want to share my love for healthy food and recipes in the hope that I can make cooking a little easier for you, spark a lot of joy and fill your bodies with nutritious and wholesome food that allows you to become the best version of yourselves.
I want to show you that salads don’t have to be tasteless, healthy food doesn’t have to be boring and getting weeknight meals on the table definitely doesn’t have to be a nightmare every night. I also want to show you that cooking can be enjoyable and that it’s important to get our kids in the kitchen learning basic cooking skills from a young age, so that they can cook and control what they put into their bodies as they grow older and become independent.
I'm so excited to take you on this journey with me, I feel it is only the beginning.
What I Value
Convenience
I want to make people’s lives easier. At the same time, I want to try to spark some joy in the kitchen for my community members.
Realism
I try to be relatable, realistic and approachable in everything I do. I know kids are fussy, and life isn't perfect.
Sharing
I aim to bridge the gap between modern mothers and the way my mother taught me to cook. I love sharing knowledge and educating wherever I can.
Helping
I want to empower women to put themselves first. My purpose in life is to help others make better food choices.
