Creamy Potato Gratin
Creamy Potato Gratin
The ultimate indulging side dish!! I know I usually preach healthy recipes, but sometimes you just have to relax and enjoy!!! This recipe is worth every calorie
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg potatoes starchy, peeled
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated, I used mersey valley cheddar
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 1 ¾ cups thickened cream
- 3/4 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- sea salt
- cracked black pepper
Instructions
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Using a mandolin or sharp knife, cut potatoes into 1-2 cm slices.
- To a large bowl, add the grated parmesan, grated cheddar, cream, milk, melted butter and spices. Season really well. Combine the mix. Add the potato slices to the cream mix. Get your hands dirty and coat all potato slices with the cream mix, making sure to separate slices that are sticking together.
- Into a greased baking dish (mine was 11/22 inch), pick up piles of the potato slices and lay them down, facing upright and tuck them in quite tightly together. If you don’t have enough slices, just slice some more. Pour over the remaining mixture onto the potatoes. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 1 hour.
- After this time, remove the foil and continue baking for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and crispy on top.
