Creamy Potato Gratin
Creamy Potato Gratin
The ultimate indulgent side dish! I know I usually preach healthy recipes, but sometimes you just have to relax and enjoy. This recipe is worth every calorie.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg potatoes starchy, peeled
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
- 1 3/4 cups thickened cream
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- sea salt & cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a large baking dish.
- Using a mandoline or sharp knife, cut the potatoes into 1–2 mm slices.
- Place the parmesan, cheddar, cream, milk, melted butter and spices in a large bowl. Season really well and mix to combine. Add the potato slices, then get your hands dirty to coat all the potato slices with the cream mix, making sure to separate slices that are sticking together.
- Place piles of the potato slices vertically in the baking dish, facing the slices upright and tucking them in quite tightly together. If you don’t have enough slices, just cut some more. Pour the remaining cream mixture onto the potatoes. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and crispy on top.
