A childhood favourite of mine. When I got told we were having this for dinner, I was always stoked. Itβs easy, quick and generally kid-friendly. The perfect weeknight meal for the whole family.
Combine the beef strips and five spice powder in a bowl.
500 g beef strips, 1 teaspoon five spice powder
For the sauce: Combine all the ingredients in a small jug or bowl. Set aside.
1/2 cup chicken stock, 1 teaspoon cornflour, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoons black bean sauce
Heat half the peanut oil in a large frying pan or wok and add the beef in batches. Sear for about 1 minute each side or until browned. Continue until all the beef is cooked. Remove and set aside.

Heat the remaining peanut oil in the same frying pan or wok over high heat. Add the onion, garlic and ginger and stir fry for 2β3 minutes. Add the capsicum, broccoli and spring onion to the pan and stir fry for 3β4 minutes.

Add the sauce to the vegetables and stir through quickly over high heat. Then add the beef strips back to the pan and stir through until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 1 minute.
